Peter Rashford

I began working in art at an early age. My mother created art and passed interest in the arts onto her son. She introduced and encouraged artistic skills. Since the first dabbles I have explored various media, techniques, and subjects. In 1979 I received a BFA from the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University. My career path keeps me busy working on artistic creations plus a wide variety of imaginative projects such as illustrations, murals, set design, and much more.

Living in the New York State Adirondack Park instills an appreciation of nature and the delicate balance of the natural environment. Much of my art is designed to be comfortable to live with and display in your living spaces. Some of my art is designed to be thought provoking and can be viewed as humorous or somewhat disturbing. The art leans toward realistic landscapes and wildlife, fantasy, and a dab of abstract. My art is created by hand and digitally using a variety of mediums such as pen & ink, acrylics, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, colored inks and pencils, airbrush, and serigraphy.

Creative energy is cyclical so I have discovered it is difficult to create just visual art day after day so I pursued other activities. That work style is well suited to my interests plus is a good use of my skills. I began woodworking at the age of seven. I enjoy designing, building and fabricating things. I also work with metal and other types of materials as do most artisans.
